Azerbaijan in 3, 5 or 7 days: choosing a route

Match your available days to Baku and regional journeys, allowing for arrival, hotel changes and the return flight.

Three days: choose one regional direction

Keep arrival and departure days realistic. A Baku day and one regional day give more time at each stop than trying to combine several distant regions. Choose Gobustan for a different landscape or Gabala for a longer day; allow time for both drives before confirming.

Five days: add an overnight

One possible outline is Baku, a day outside the city, then Gabala and Sheki with an overnight before returning. Hotel changes take time. Send booked hotel addresses before confirming the route, and avoid scheduling a distant drive immediately before an international departure.

Seven days: add depth or a second direction

Use the extra days for longer visits, rest or a separate northern journey. Shahdag and Quba belong to a different road direction from Gabala and Sheki. Price the complete sequence of dates and hotel nights; a one-day return fare does not cover several days of vehicle availability.

Count usable days, not hotel nights

A five-night stay can leave fewer than five full sightseeing days. Write down the local arrival and departure times first, then mark which days have hotel changes. A late arrival is mainly an airport-and-hotel day; an early departure needs its own transfer. Build regional plans into the remaining days instead of starting with a list of every destination you have seen online.

Choose a route shape before choosing stops

Compare returning to Baku after each outing with a journey that continues between regional hotels. Repeated returns may suit travellers who want one base and little luggage movement. An overnight route may suit a slower visit to Sheki or Gabala. Neither format is automatically cheaper: send the actual hotel sequence, dates and final destination for a quote that covers your plan.

Keep one flexible part in each day

Choose the visit you most want to make, then mark other stops as optional. Walking, lunch, queues and weather can change a day’s pace. Free stops along the journey let you take breaks, but each still needs time in the itinerary. If an activity has a timed entry, check its current conditions with the operator before arranging the driving sequence.
